Abstract
With this investigation, it has been tried to set out a cornerstone for a deeper understanding of the role of e-learning in education for sustainable development. Empirical results, which demonstrate the specific significance of e-learning for the acquisition of competency, and which describe the acquisition of formative competency as “Formative action in complex demanding situations,” provide an important contribution to this argument. It is clear from this that the innovative character of new media learning justifies a specific and detailed processing of didactic design.
