Abstract

Multinational corporations have a specific mission and purpose. They are committed to making profits but not the pursuit of social quality or value management where they consider keeping values such as human rights. Corporations are formed with codes of conduct and guidelines that regulate their day to day operations. Some multinational corporations have supported dictatorships regimes and other exploitative global businesses where they do business. Further research is warranted to fill gaps in a study that focuses on the capacity of states and their systems to adjudicate harmful actions by multinational corporations and how multinational corporations in a bid to access markets have compromised the ethical role of protecting human rights. The question that remains controversial is whether corporations have an ethical role to protect human rights.
