Abstract

The concept of development has drawn a big debate across the globe in the past few decades as it has resulted in multi-factoral pervasive effect in the socio-political and economic realms of the people and the surrounding habitats. As the nature of development is complex and varied so is it’s interpretation and intended outcomes. The preamble of UN declaration to right to development legitimizes the need and concerns of the development. Researchers, academicians, politicians and businessmen have their own definitions and understanding of the word “development” and hence there is conflict of interests among the so called people living in the same niche sharing their own specific space. Therefore, it is pertinent to understand and appreciate a holistic view of concept of development and accordingly judiciously formulate, act and debate the various issues related to development.
