SWOT Analysis for the Banking Sector in Botswana

Abstract

The increasing importance of the banking sector in Botswana cannot be emphasised more than the fact that it is one of the strongest sectors providing developmental support to the rest of the economy. The sector has shown considerable growth since the 1990s when Bank of Botswana started allowing more competition in the banking market. The role of Bank of Botswana in regulating banking activities is discussed succinctly to give a robust background to an extensive assessment of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by banks in Botswana.
