Abstract

Sir Kenneth Keith outlines the growing body of law, processes and institutions that effect, influence and regulate the myriad of activities occurring in a rapidly globalising world. He gives two reasons lawyers should be interested in international relations and international law – good citizenship and good lawyering. He emphasises the second, contending that it is not possible to have a firm grasp of many areas of law without seeing the law in its widest context. Furthermore, New Zealand lawyers who understand international affairs can also play vital roles as international citizens by contributing to international legal and political processes.
