Abstract

This research analyzed the quality of education in Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). Findings confirm that OUSD is failing to adequately educate it's predominantly African American student population. In turn, leaving OUSD students immobile and merely dreaming about the American Dream. As a result, we redefine and re-conceptualize education in the context required to eliminate educational inequalities and promote upward mobility for student of color attending OUSD and similar school districts.
