Abstract
This provides the Introduction and a detailed table of contents for my book Long Wars and the Constitution, forthcoming in June 2013 from Harvard University Press. The book employs a historicist theory of constitutional change to analyze and critique the exercise of the war power by presidents since 1945 and, along the way, reconceives the standard war powers debate as well as the more general dispute over the imperial presidency.
Keywords: war powers, presidential power, imperial presidency
