Abstract

Islamic economics as a separate discipline in last couple of decades, has been a focal point of research for both academia and practitioners. As the discipline is still in the process of fully evolving and bringing wider dimensions into its fold, there is a greater need of theoretical literature to substantiate its progress and momentum. In this respect, the present article of El-Shaikh is ‘indeed, a diligent effort to create a link between the classical approaches of Islamic economics and its modern assumptions and practices. Given the insightful ideas and persuasive arguments, stuffed with the relevant contextual references, the article reflects a glimpse of erudition the writer enjoys in the field. No doubt, keeping in mind the significance of the topic, it is hoped that this would necessarily add to the existing knowledge of the discipline and further the cause of Islamic economics as well.
