Abstract

This article is about visualization tools that ensure our understanding in the process of communication.

We often use the visualization of information to explain our thesis. When we visualize something, we draw graphs, charts, and sometimes pictures. These are special tools. With these tools, we transfer the data from the form of the text into the form of image. This form helps us to make the information more understandable to our audience. This increases the efficiency of our discourse.

The meaning of the text cannot be understood if we visualize information only. If we are to provide understanding of the text as a whole through the means of visualization, we need to use sophisticated visual designs – schemes. Schemes enable us to visualize the structure, the internal organization of the text. This provides an understanding of the meaning of the text.

In this paper, the difference between the meaning of the text and the information contained in it will be shown, and also examples of schemes will be given.

Keywords: discourse, communication, visualization, understanding, schemes
