Abstract

Evaluation is a process that emerges through everyday experiences at school and involves collecting and interpreting information. Portfolio is a tool for collecting, recording and interpretation of data relating to the development and progress of each child. It is a means of presenting their efforts and achievements and offers feedback on the educational process. Evaluation in learning, is essential for organizing an appropriate program and espousing a differentiated teaching approach∙ especially in the case that it is made by educators, children themselves and their parents, very often proves to be particularly fruitful. The effectiveness of the educational program relies on these three main factors. In this sense, a flexible learning environment, where evaluation is a prerequisite, enables children’s development and the promotion of wider learning attitudes such as curiosity, creativity, exploration, inventiveness, persistence, experimentation, constructive criticism.
