Abstract
John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and Friedrich A. von Hayek have been the main actors of the theory and monetary policy in the XX century. Here we review their writings in the context of the “rules versus discrecionality debate,” trying to show that Hayek ́s contributions are many times forgotten in spite of their importance.
