Abstract
The inevitable and omnipresent workplace conflict remains a major theme of occupational psychology and organizational behavior. The proponents of its badness are many but from Dutsch(1973) a group of researchers starts their voyage of finding empirical evidences for its beneficial existence. The academic debate is still on. This review analyze the pros and cons of the arguments of both sides and it was concluded that neither all types of conflict are bad nor it can be concluded as final verdict that positive outcomes of conflict are circumstantial and exceptions not the rules. It needs pre-post, longitudinal, multi-variable and more comprehensive studies to analyze conflict thoroughly. Directions for future research are also discussed.
