Abstract
This paper constitutes a brief introduction to the main topics dealt with at a panel on “International Norm-Making on Forced Displacement: Challenges and Complexity”, held at the 106th Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law in March 2012. The panel highlighted normative developments to address climate change and other forms of forced displacement; the use and legal significance of soft law in international refugee law; and the relevance and implementation of the principle of international cooperation with respect to refugee protection.
