Abstract

Kalinga is a ancient name and a small principality of ancient Orissa. it was the most important geographical unit which played a significant role in formation of ancient Orissa and also in India through the ages. Originally Kalinga was a small state bordering on the bay of Bengal in the South Orissa and North Andhra. But it's power and prestige was felt far and wide and its kingdom sometimes embraced almost the whole of traditional Orissa. Here in this writing I could only concentrate on the Geographical boundary of Kalinga from the reign of Nanda Dynasty to the advent of Mughals.
