Abstract

It is surprising to note that activities that would otherwise be legal are still prohibited on Christian holidays in the US and in some Canadian provinces. After a brief overview of the constitutional issues that may arise from the enactment of a Sunday observance law, this article reviews separately the question of Sunday closing in Canada and in the United Stated using various landmark cases. The last part of this study will consist of an eclectic comparison between diverse matters and questions raised by those cases.
