Abstract

There is a growing consensus that innovation emanates within the individual, i.e. from his or her own ideas (Amabile, 1988, King 1990). Manny innovation scholars like Kanter (1983) have stated it to the generation, acceptance and implementation of new ideas, processes, products or services. There could be no specific model to describe the process, but as said it originates from the generation of new ideas that is eventually manifested in the extraordinary achievements we encounter in any field of human activity. The essence of individual innovation lies in its uniqueness of the intellectual power or capacity expressed. The developmental foundation of an individual innovation is associated with the childhood development of the innovators. It is the period in which he or she undergoes high levels of cognitive manifestations. This is the duration whereby it accelerates the propensity to contribute something ‘new’ of its kind. It may not be termed as a gift or a chance of event but a result of a specific organisation of an individual’s experience.

It is hard to conclude on the models, as the more we study the complex structure the more web-entangling affect it has upon the researchers. However, they gently touch upon the basics and explanation to the innovation phenomenon.

It also brings about a generally accepted fact, and that is only the large firms can engage in innovation. It challenges this proposition in all spheres of the firm’s existence. It is now a reverse process, the smaller firms are vastly growing with the “innovation imbroglio”, challenging the existence of the large firms in tandem.
