Abstract

Mr Pranab Mukherjee, the honourable Finance Minister of India placed the budget for the financial year 2011-12 in the Parliament under a special circumstance as the nation was undergoing a volatile socio-economic and political phase for the last couple of months. All sections of Indian society had their own expectations from the budget. The corporate world was expecting big ticket reform, the middle class householders were eagerly looking for some benefit or relief from the budget, the coalition partners were expecting a gimmick as the assembly election of five key states were knocking at the door. It was a really challenge for the finance minister to meet the expectations of all sections.
