Abstract

Where does the World Trade Organization (WTO) stand in the global economic recession? This paper argues that the WTO is an effective organization, and it is doing a helpful job to end the current recession.

To prove that statement, the paper is divided into four topics. The first is about the recession; definitions, causes, facts and numbers. The second topic provides an answer for the question: which international organization (the Unholy Trinity; International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and the WTO) is the most relevant to the current recession? The third topic is about the WTO and the global economic recessions: is the WTO responsible for the current recession? And how did it deal with previous recessions? And how does it deal with the current recession? Finally the paper concludes with recommendations and solutions.

Keywords: WTO, Global Economic Recession, IMF, World Bank
