Abstract

The study is aimed at exploring the definition of critical thinking by preservice preschool teachers. The preservice teachers are expected to have the ability of critical thinking before they could teacher children once they are in service. Interviews were conducted to two informants who are still studying in the Early Childhood Studies program in a private university in Klang Valley. A few themes emerged from the transcriptions and coding processes. Results found that those preservice teachers have shallow definition of critical thinking, yet they are able to differentiate critical thinking from creative thinking.

Keywords: critical thinking, pre-service teachers, qualitative study, early childhood
