Abstract

The Federal Reserve currently has more than $3.3 trillion in assets, which by the way, also makes it the largest bank in the world. This article discusses the reasons for the tremendous growth in the Fed’s balance sheet during the past six years. It also discusses the problem the Fed faces as it unwinds this huge portfolio over the next few years.
