Abstract

This chapter in Specialized Legal Research, ed. Penny Hazelton, covers military law as it is described in the Preamble (Part I) of the Manual for Courts-Martial, United States. Paragraph 2 of the Preamble describes military law as "that which regulates its military establishment." The chapter focuses primarily on military justice and other laws that regulate the conduct of members of the military and their separation from the armed forces. Military justice and other types of discharges, in turn, may affect the benefits for which veterans qualify hence the chapter also covers veterans’ law.
