Transnational Law and the European Union: Reflections from WISH in China

Abstract
The 9th International Workshop for Young Scholars (WISH) was held in November 2012 at Péking University School of Transnational Law, Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen, China. The topic was 'The Future of Transnational Law: The EU, USA, China and the BRICS'. 18 young scholars were selected from 90 applicants around the world to present papers on approaches to transnational law, transnational law and human rights, legal pluralism and risk regulation: food and environment, public and private actors in transnational regulation, judges, experts and lawyers in the making of transnational law, and regionalism and transnationalism. This article introduces the topic, presents selected revised papers on transnational law and the European Union and draws some preliminary conclusions about the future of transnational law.
