Abstract
Several of the articles in this issue of Tan Pan have focused on certification of mediators - its development, the pros and cons, and specific examples. In this article, I will argue that a certification process is incomplete unless accompanied by an adopted standard of conduct, a process for handling complaints, and the authority to remove certification from an individual if warranted. I will identify the important elements for a grievance process, and will conclude with some statistics from a well-developed mediator grievance process.
