Les femmes et les 'Droits de L’Homme' en Arabie saoudite (Women and 'Human Rights' in Saudi Arabia)

Abstract

French Abstract: La question des femmes et des « Droits de l’Homme » en Arabie saoudite peut d’abord être étudiée à l’examen de différentes statistiques. Leur analyse est éclairée par une comparaison avec deux pays du Moyen-Orient bénéficiant également d’une rente pétrolière, l’Irak et l’Iran, un pays arabo-musulman où la condition féminine subit moins d’inégalités, la Tunisie, et un pays occidental, la France.

L’étude met en évidence la situation particulière de la femme au titre des droits de l’homme tels qu’ils figurent dans la Déclaration universelle de 1948 que tous les pays membres de l’ONU devraient appliquer. Il faut donc rechercher si le fait pour l’Arabie saoudite de s’appuyer sur d’autres textes internationaux est susceptible d’expliquer cette situation.

English Abstract: The issue of women and "Human Rights" in Saudi Arabia can first be studied in consideration of different statistics. Their analysis is illuminated by a comparison of two countries in the Middle East also benefiting from oil revenue, Iraq and Iran against Arab-Muslim countries where women experience less inequality, Tunisia, and Western countries, France. The study highlights the particular situation of women under human rights as contained in the Universal Declaration of 1948 that all member states of the UN should apply. It must therefore be ascertained whether the fact that Saudi Arabia rely on other international texts may explain this situation.
