Abstract
For a layman Jurisprudence is Science of law. For a law student of bachelor level, he is expected to know what Jurisprudence is. From where and from whom it is to be known? Who are the well known writers on the subject? What is the scope of Jurisprudence? How to approach the study of Jurisprudence? What is the significance and utility of Jurisprudence? What is the relation of Jurisprudence with other social sciences such as sociology, Psychology, Ethics, Economics, History, Politics, and Synthetics?
For a student of master of laws level it is required that he must know the basics and must be able to comment and criticise what has been said about the subject. His studies must be in between the bachelor and doctoral studies. His approach must be thorough of what has been written by others and he must develop his vision and approach whereby he may conclude independently. He must know what the philosophy of law or behind law is. In doing so an LL.M. student is to extend his efforts beyond a bachelor level and below the doctoral level.
