Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) selling renewable energy products to consumers in emerging markets around the world face distinct challenges. Despite challenges, many business models have demonstrated long-term profit potential within their markets. The current research broadly presents the criteria necessary for such businesses to be sustainable and successful mid-long term. Additional research is recommended to further explore the individual criteria.
