Abstract
In this chapter, we discuss the mental health treatment options for juvenile offenders placed in residential psychiatric or juvenile justice settings. After discussing the effectiveness and potential risks of residential care, we then discuss the unique treatment, behavioral management, and service delivery issues arising in residential settings and the importance of service integration and aftercare. We conclude with directions for future research and program development in the residential treatment of juvenile offenders.
