Abstract

Predictive maintenance is a planned maintenance technique which basically involves predicting the potential failure modes of any plant machinery or equipment using sophisticated data acquisition and modeling techniques, and thus maintenance operations can be carried out before a failure occurs. There are basically two types of system, repairable and replaceable systems. Repairable systems are those which can be repaired on failure and restored to normal working condition while replaceable systems are those which needs replacement before restoral to normal working condition on failure. The present research paper will develop a practical predictive maintenance technique for repairable systems using the NHPP models (Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process).
