Abstract

"The Impact of Crime on Support for Democracy in Africa. Based on data from the 2008-9 Afrobarometer, this paper demonstrates that crime and corruption both have a significant impact on public satisfaction with democracy, democratic participation, support for the rule of law, willingness to pay taxes, and support for limits on presidential power.
