Abstract

Under the auspices of economic stability and financial accountability, municipal takeover policies are gaining attention- from both critics and supporters. With the decision making role of elected officials effectively suspended, some speculate that municipal takeovers are the ‘end of democracy’. This paper focuses on the impact of municipal takeovers on local governance.
