Abstract
Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement has become synonymous with controversies when it comes to intellectual property enforcement agreement. It has witnessed so many controversies of varied nature, which still continues till date. Though the idea to create a plurilateral agreement on counterfeiting was developed by Japan and the United States in 2006, the final text of ACTA was released in May 2011, it was finally on 1st October, 2011 that eight participants out of eleven involved in the rounds of negotiations signed ACTA in Tokyo.
