Abstract
Words manifest in many forms - symbols, proverbs, metaphors, riddles, parables, stories and hymns- and form the basis of our culture, organizations, and socio-economic-political systems. Words not only mean the objective phenomena that determine our lives, but also assist in the creation and enactment of novel, imaginative or subjective ideals that shape our lives and provide meaning to our existence. This paper highlights the role of socio-cognitive, socio-linguistic processes and organizational routines to develop the words (metaphors, narratives, stories) that would help build the intellectual and social capital. This paper further elaborates the link between sharing words that are genuine, personal and positive, and how to realize hope, dignity, and fairness to all stakeholders, and narrates the examples of how organizations make use of stories, metaphors, and analogies in their strategy processes to achieve cognitive and creative advantages.
