Abstract

This paper discusses the profile and roles of Network of East Asian Think-tanks (NEAT) as an epistemic community in East Asia that encourages economic cooperation in the region. As a medium of “second track diplomacy”, NEAT has been complementing “first track diplomacy” and other tracks that were utilized by Japan and China to defend their interests. The two countries sought to integrate the first and second track diplomacy in creating economic cooperation in East Asia.
