Abstract
Compares the positions of Alexandre Herculano and Siva Vaidhyanathan on copyright, particularly regarding the concept of property; both authors are generally against the notion of literary or intellectual property, but Vaidhyanathan's critique is sociopolitical, while Herculano's is more technical in economic and legal terms. Concludes with comments on the prospects of copyright policy in Brazil, relating them to Vaidhyanathan's reservations against Latin copyright traditions (droit d'auteur).
