Abstract

Article 21 and 22 of the Constitution of India protects and safeguards the rights of convicts, under-trials and offenders. This Chapter by Debarati Halder tries to find out different types of safeguards guaranteed to the women prisoners. The core of the analysis orbits around the concept of right to life and the author has attempted to bring out the various facets of right to life in the arena of rights guaranteed to women prisoners. This chapter is a doctrinal research analysis of case laws which tries to look at the concept of right to life under the Indian Constitution from the perspective of women prisoners’ rights.
