Abstract

This chapter considers that worldwide patent harmonization on the inventive step requirement (non obviousness) is a distant (and not altogether desirable) probability. Nonetheless, the current harmonization efforts that are occurring on the administrative level may do more to bring harmonization to fruition as a practical matter than the more formal treaty-based mechanisms.
