Abstract

Are universities coddling entrepreneurship students? Universities seem to think that hand-holding is needed to teach entrepreneurship. To this end, students are encouraged to attend business planning sessions, to find mentors, to work with academic advisors, and to present their pitches to financiers and other successful entrepreneurs – all of which seems to be spoon-feeding students, rather than seeking to build independent leaders. Is there a need for a better balance between hand-holding and total independence?
