In this essay, I reflect on the process of learning a new online system and on Fastcase, the system I tried out.

Fastcase is a legal information service that uses innovative graphic displays to help users assess their search results. The published version of this essay includes two screenshots in gray scale. The PDF posted here adds them in color, plus a third screenshot that was omitted in print.
