Abstract

English Abstract: The rapid spread and dynamic growth of exchange traded funds poses the question what stands behind the success of specific issues. Without discussing the obvious advantages resulting from the product's special structure, I investigate in this atricle which factors drive the success of an equity ETF issue in Europe, furthermore, what innovative directions and growth opportunities could be observed in Europe and Hungary. For the analysis I take advantage of a dataset of more than three thousand equity ETFs, as well as the professional insights of several national experts (fund managers, analysts).
