Abstract

The recent ICJ judgment in the Antarctic Whaling case states that the 1946 International Convention for the Regulation (ICRW) has evolved. But how do wildlife treaties evolve? Can they become obsolete, as has arguably occurred with the "elephant treaties" examined by Rachelle Adam? These are important questions, likely to be with us for some time.

Keywords: wildlife treaties, international environmental law, treaty evolution
