Spanish Abstract: De todos los continentes, América ha experimentado la más fantástica aventura población desde el siglo XVIII. Por supuesto, los otros cuatro continentes también han registrado un crecimiento demográfico sin precedentes en la historia de la humanidad, como resultado de lo que la ciencia de la población llamada "transición demográfica". Esto es Estados Unidos, que en dos siglos, ha cambiado más profundamente la geografía de la población mundial. En 1800 su población (27 millones), más de tres veces menor que en África representa sólo el 2,8% de la población mundial. Este porcentaje aumenta a más del 13% a finales del siglo XX. Por tanto, el siglo XIX y XX han visto nacer demográfica de un continente que ha cambiado el mundo.

English Abstract: From all continents, America has experienced the most fantastic adventure population since the eighteenth century. Of course, the other four continents have also registered an unprecedented population growth in the history of humanity, as a result of what science of the population called "demographic transition". This is America which, in two centuries, most profoundly changed the geography of the world's population. In 1800 its population (27 million), more than three times lower than in Africa, accounts for only 2.8% of the world population. This percentage increases to over 13% at the end of the twentieth century. The nineteenth and twentieth centuries have therefore seen the demographic birth of a continent that has changed the world.
