Abstract

Over the last years somewhat of a cotton industry of publications around religion and international relations developed. More often than not those publications are more about religion and foreign policy, that are issues of religious freedom, religious minority groups and the like. Only very rarely a serious study about religion and international relations in the sense of the subject pops up. The current publication of Dennis Hoover and Douglas Johnston Religion and Foreign Affairs is no exception to that rule. At least it is not intended to be such a contribution. Rather, as the subtitle, Essential Readings, suggests, it is a collection of articles from editions and journals.
