Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an old age concept yet its flame of debate has not been put off. CSR is moving from just a company discretionary activity to a national demand backed by law. This mandatory requirement sparkle a new trend of arguments on CSR. This paper has joined this new course of CSR debate by raising some unconventional justifications on making CSR mandatory. To add to the existing argument of CSR, the paper brings out issues of triple taxation, killing of competitive spirit, multiplier effect, and deviation from natural law of donation among others. Although the paper criticize mandatory CSR practices, it recognise the benefit of CSR, been it mandatory or voluntary.
