Abstract

Investment in the Stock Market needs continuous study of the different industries and the overall economic condition of the country as well. There exists a very high level of risk in this process since the returns out of the investment and the loss that may occur lies in the same line separated by a very thin barrier. To avoid such risks and to generate profit out of the investment, the investor needs to take certain decisions regarding the trading of stocks in order to manage their portfolio.

It has been observed that there are no efficient applications or platforms for the Indian Stock Market, which provide the investors a suitable way to manage their portfolio. However, there are some spreadsheet models which provides a similar platform for the foreign Stock Markets like NYSE and NASDAQ etc., but no significant work has been done for the investors of the Indian Stock Market. The investors either have to follow the official websites of NSE and BSE and get the information manually for each and every single company, or they can use some platforms provided by different websites in which the user have to log in every time they want to get the information. So, with this application, the users are given an easy way to maintain their portfolio by providing real-time tracking for all the critical information. The paper constitutes building of a Spreadsheet Model using Microsoft Excel which includes an exhaustive list of the companies listed in the Indian Stock Market viz., NSE and BSE. The application is segmented in different parts to provide different set of information to the users based on their requirement. The model is 95 percent automatic and needs only few manual inputs to track the portfolio. With the visualization power of excel it provides the users with a powerful dashboard to have an overview of their entire portfolio.
