Abstract

The article offers an historical overview of the birth and development of media education in Russia. From the early decades of the XX century to nowadays - albeit with ups and downs - media education has always played an important role both in the research of scholars with different disciplinary backgrounds as well and in the daily practice of teachers, educators and media professionals.
