French Abstract: Dans ce bref article, j’identifie un modèle de concurrence qui s’est formé dans le contexte de l’intégration européenne et qui est primordial, non seulement pour les Européens, mais aussi pour tous ceux qui, réfléchissant sur la façon d’appréhender la concurrence, s’en réfèrent au modèle européen. Présentée de la sorte, la question "la concurrence, depuis quand?" occupe l’esprit de la plupart des Européens, en raison de son caractère fondamental dans le processus d’intégration européenne et dans d’autres débats, tels que la viabilité de l’euro, les obligations réciproques entre les États membres et bien d’autres préoccupations essentielles pour l’Europe du XXIst siècle. Par la suite, nous l’appellerons "le modèle européen de la concurrence".

English Abstract: In this brief article, I identify a model of competition which has emerged in the context of European integration and which is important not only for Europeans but also for those who seek to understand the role of law in shaping patterns and forms of competition more generally. The evolution of this model is central to many issues in European integration in the 21st century, including, among others, the future of the Euro.
