Когортный анализ и проблема разграничения компонентов социальных изменений: метод линейной декомпозиции тренда (Cohort Analysis and the Issue of Delimitating Components of Social Changes: Method of Linear Trend De-composition)

Russian Abstract: В статье рассматриваются возможности и ограничения метода линейной декомпозиции тренда (Firebaugh, 1989; 1992) в когортном анализе при изучении изменений в обществе и указывается на ситуации, когда его применение является эффективным для понимания природы социальных изменений в сравнительной перспективе. Обосновывается преимущество метода, которое состоит в использовании объективных статистических критериев при разграничении эффектов исторического периода и смены когорт в условиях, когда изучаемый признак не меняется существенно с возрастом. Данная статья призвана помочь социологам в использовании потенциала когортного анализа и накопленных лонгитюдных данных.

English Abstract: This article presents performance capabilities and limitations of method of linear decomposition (Firebaugh, 1989; 1992) in cohort analysis in study of changes in a society and specifies situations when its use is effective for understanding the nature of social change in comparative perspective. The author substantiates an advantage of the method which consists in application of objective statistical criteria for the partition of historical period and cohort effects when aging does not impact significantly on the studied phenomenon. The paper is aimed to help sociologists to utilize the potential of cohort analysis and available longitudinal data.
