Abstract
It analyses Information & Knowledge Societies (IKS) globally and specially at Latin America. Then conceptualizes Open Access as fundamental for such societies and how important it is for higher education. It proposes the concept of informative heritage to refer products of higher education institutions to fundament why they should be openly accessible.
