Abstract

Adolescents have moderately adequate knowledge and favorable attitude regarding psychological effects caused by social media. In order to feel safe and develop trust, children and adolescents need a stable, caring environment. Their basic emotional and physical needs must be consistently met. An adolescent who is not properly guided and who is not aware of proper media use may become distressful and learns to avoid social contact. In contrast some adolescents may show signs and symptoms of psychological effects caused by social media. Psychological effects like sleep disorder, sexual problems, attention deficiency, hyperactivity disorder, addiction, eating disorder, anxiety and depression may vary among adolescents as per their individual way of media use. Hence this article assess the knowledge and attitude regarding psychological effects caused by Social Media among Adolescents in Selected Pre university Colleges in Bangalore ( Bengaluru).
