Abstract

This short piece discusses basic techniques for tracking and researching the federal and Kentucky budget processes. The first part highlights the institutions one should research to learn about the federal budget, including Congress, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This is followed a discussion of useful sources of state budget data in Kentucky, especially the General Assembly’s Legislative Research Commission (LRC) and the Governor’s Office of the State Budget Director (OSBD).
